Merrifield Animal Hospital's Dedicated Team
Our team of caring support professionals is devoted to you and your pet!
Ann — Hospital Manager
Ann started working at Merrifield Animal Hospital as a receptionist in 2011 and was promoted to hospital manager less than two years later. She's a strong advocate for adoptions and giving homeless pets a second chance. Consequently, a beneficial relationship has been established Merrifield Animal Hospital and several local rescue organizations to provide veterinary services.
A huge animal lover, Ann has a special fondness for large, fluffy dogs and bully breeds. She's the proud mama of two adopted fur babies: an extremely sweet Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix named Miracle and a loveable goofy pit bull named Sunny.
Ann is currently working on her MBA degree at Marymount University and hopes to combine it with her managerial experience at Merrifield Animal Hospital to open up her own doggie day care in the future.
In her free time, Ann enjoys dog training, camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities — even better if they include Miracle and Sunny! She loves trying out new recipes that incorporate ingredients from her garden.
Brenda — Lead Receptionist
Brenda began working at Merrifield Animal Hospital in March of 2005. She has always loved animals and knew that she wanted to work with them from an early age. Brenda graduated in 2000 from Mary Washington College with a BS degree in Psychology and worked in counseling until 2004, when she decided she was ready for a career change.
Brenda has three cats and volunteers with The House Rabbit Society through which she has fostered many rabbits and assisted in their adoptions. She would one day like to open her own rescue for dogs, cats, and exotics. Brenda enjoys spending time with friends, taking trips to wineries, and working in such a close-knit group where co-workers feel like friends and family.
Jamila — Receptionist
Jamila joined Merrifield Animal Hospital in the summer of 2012. She joined us with five years of prior veterinary front desk experience. Aside from her two-legged son, she also is the proud parent of a cat named Shakes. Don't tell Shakes, but Jamila does welcome doggy hello's around the front desk as well.
Outside of the hospital, Jamila enjoys keeping up with her toddler and spending time with her family.
Jackie — Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant
Jackie joined the Merrifield Animal Hospital team in the fall of 2013. You'll often see her welcoming face at the front desk, but because she came to us as a trained veterinary assistant, you might spot her in the exam room, too. Jackie has a special attachment to kittens. Some even call her the "Cat Whisperer."
Jackie resides in Gainesville with her husband, young daughter, and her three cats — Dexter, Babygirl, and Olivia. Jackie holds an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and is currently working on obtaining her Bachelor's Degree. In her free time, Jackie enjoys reading and spending time with her family, who all root for the Indianapolis Colts during football season.
Brittany — Licensed Veterinary Technician
Brittany is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Merrifield Animal Hospital, first joining our team as a veterinary assistant in 2007. She graduated from the vet tech program at Wilson College in 2009 and earned her LVT license soon after. Brittany, who has always been interested in wildlife and conservation medicine, has a particular love for behavior and training. Along with her valuable help during appointments and surgeries, she also is involved in inventory ordering and assistant training.
Brittany lives with her three dogs, Roscoe, Bealie, and Stuart, as well as a cat named Jeeves. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, running, and horseback riding.
Melaine — Veterinary Technician
Melaine joined Merrifield Animal Hospital in April of 2007. She has done coursework with the Veterinary Technician program at Penn Foster College and is a key member of our patient care team and assists with inventory ordering and team training.
Outside of the hospital, Melaine loves spending all of her time with husband, Dylan, and their new baby boy, Shawn. She also enjoys pampering her three cats Brody, Izzy, and Roxi when she is not spoiling the patients under her care at work.
Daisy — Veterinary Technician
Daisy has been with Merrifield Animal Hospital since the summer of 2006. She is hoping to attend graduate school for biology or possibly veterinary medicine. She currently cares for two goldfish named Willy Wonka and William the Conqueror, a blue crawfish named Scooter, and a sweet little gerbil that goes by Avogadro.
Outside of the hospital, Daisy enjoys singing with a local community choir, Choralis. In addition to her time as a veterinary assistant, she can also be found serenading the boarding pets with her music, which they find quite calming.
Felicia — Kennel & Veterinary Assistant
Felicia has been a part of the Merrifield Animal Hospital team since spring of 2011. She is a lifetime animal lover. She has always had pets and enjoys volunteering at local animal shelters. Felicia has two cats named Azmaria and Biscuit, a Shih Tzu named Shion, and a turtle named Ceil. Our pet boarders enjoy her quiet confidence and gentle handling... as well as the warm baths she gives!
Felicia is currently working on becoming a certified veterinary technician. She hopes to adopt a hairless Chinese crested dog one day in the future.
Greg — Kennel & Veterinary Assistant
Greg joined the Merrifield Animal Hospital family in September 2013. After growing up in Vienna and attending Thomas Jefferson High School, Greg enrolled at Johns Hopkins University, graduating with a B.A. degree in Biophysics and a minor in Music. Greg hopes to attend veterinary school in the future with the goal of practicing medicine in a small animal hospital.
At home, Greg cares for two adoring and adorable miniature poodles, Chica and Chase. In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, board gaming, and playing saxophone.
