Our team of caring support professionals is devoted to you and your pet!

Hospital Manager Emily McClellan with DogsEmily’s 15 years of veterinary experience began while she was still in high school. Without giving her was sometime in the 1990’s. She began her career at a small animal hospital in Carrollton, Texas and worked there for almost 10 years. Emily ultimately made the difficult choice to leave the industry. It was so difficult because she has always loved working with animals, but decided she needed to be home with her five children, all under the age of seven!

Thirteen years later, Emily returned to her passion of helping animals at a wonderful small clinic in Seaside, Oregon. In the summer of 2015, her family made the long journey from Oregon to Virginia. They made it even longer via a 7,500 mile, 4 week road trip that included the Redwood Forest, Disney Land, Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Craters of the Moon National Park, Flathead Lake, Yellowstone, and much more!

Vet Tech BrittanyBrittany is a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Merrifield Animal Hospital, first joining our team as a Veterinary Assistant in 2007. She graduated from the vet tech program at Wilson College in 2009 and earned her LVT license soon after. As well as enjoying her time assisting in surgery, Brittany has a particular love for behavior and training, and will try her hardest to make your pet’s visit stress-free!

Brittany lives with her husband, her dogs Bealie and Cameron, and her cat Jeeves. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, running, and horseback riding.

Vet Assistant DaisyDaisy has been with Merrifield Animal Hospital since the summer of 2006. She is currently enrolled in the veterinary technology program at Northern Virginia Community College. She feels she is too busy to give a furry animal the care it deserves, but she does have several freshwater fish and shrimp at home.

Outside of the hospital, Daisy enjoys singing with a local community choir, Choralis, and has several performances with them throughout the year. She has been known to annoy her coworkers by playing classical music, although the pets don’t seem to mind!

Melanie — Veterinary AssistantMelanie is a Veterinary Assistant at Merrifield Animal Hospital. Her lifelong passion for animal care brought her to our team as a receptionist in April of 2007. When not working, you can find Melanie at her home spending time with her family which includes her husband, Dylan, and her three-year-old son, Shawn. Her current four-legged companions include kitties Brody, Isabell, and Roxi. Originally from Myrtle Beach, SC, Melanie loves being outdoors, especially at the beach!

She enjoys spending time outdoors with her dogs Bella and Sadie, who love taking walks as much as she does. You can also find Katie in the kitchen cooking up new recipes and singing in her church choir in her spare time.

Marisa — ReceptionistMarisa is one of the newest members of our staff. Although she just joined the team in April 2017, she has been working in the veterinary field since 2015. She most enjoys getting to know the wonderful clients at Merrifield Animal Hospital and their furry family members.

She lives in Burke with her husband, German shepherd, and two cats. In her free time, Marisa enjoys yoga and spending time outside with her dog.

Jake — Pet Care AttendantJake has been a Merrifield Animal Hospital team member since May of 2015. You will find him working hard in the heart of our hospital taking care of our wonderful dog and cat boarders and campers! Jake has recently graduated from high school and is now attending college classes at Lord Fairfax Community College working towards an animal science degree.

He is a happy face for our patients to see, and he’s great with their parents, too. Jake enjoys spending time with his family, weight lifting competitions, and hanging out with his two dogs Lily and Sadie.
